Another week in the books, and if you’ve been riding with the Even Money podcast crew, your bankroll probably feels pretty darn good right now. Ross Tucker and Steve Fezzik are on a certified heater, and we’re here to sift through the madness, celebrate the wins, moan about the misses, and dish out the betting takeaways that matter most. From teaser magic to underdog glory, let’s dig into the NFL slate and see where the smart money landed.
The week kicked off strong with the Thursday night game between the Patriots and Jets. The sharp move was taking New England -6.5 in the first half, and that cashed nicely. But anyone who waited too long and chased the full game line wasn’t so lucky. Timing, folks. It matters.
Another money maker? The Dolphins squeaked out a 16-13 overtime win after being laid the modest number of 2.5. Fezzik was all in with two units and got the sweat equity payoff. Meanwhile, the Titans played spoiler, covering the +7.5 spread. That was another two-unit win for Team Fezzik.
Ross leaned Jacksonville laying three points against the Chargers, and boy, should he have pulled the trigger. The Jags didn’t just cover—they steamrolled. Then there was the Panthers-Falcons clash, where the Panthers snuck in as underdogs at +3.5 and pulled off the outright win. Both hosts were in on the under 42.5 too, and that cashed, making it a double-dip of delight.
This week’s teaser legs were a buffet of brilliance—with a couple of unfortunate misses. The Seahawks teased up to +8.5 against the Rams came through, as did several other legs for both Ross and Steve. Overall, Ross hit four of five teaser legs, and Steve went three of four. Not bad when you consider how dicey teasers can be in the unpredictable world of the NFL.
However, not everything was sunshine and spreads. The 49ers absolutely smoked the Cardinals 41-22, blowing up what felt like a reasonable teaser of Arizona to +8.5. That was the lone teaser miss for Ross and one of three for Steve. Not every dog has its day, especially when that dog is getting flattened by Christian McCaffrey and friends.
Defensive slugfests were the name of the game in several matchups. Ravens-Browns under 41.5? Money. Packers-Giants under 44.5? Easy winner. When the offenses look wobbly, the under is your best friend.
In one of the more surprising results, Ross took the Broncos +3.5 against the Chiefs and cashed in big as Denver won outright. Steve’s lean to the under also hit. That kind of game reminds us why betting the dog with the hook is often a sharp move.
The biggest single-game haul of the week came courtesy of the Eagles. Steve went all-in on Philly, laying the -1.5 with three units and tacking on two more units on the under. Five units, five stars, five reasons to ride with Steve’s instincts. The Eagles delivered and then some, making it a feast for those who backed them early.
Glancing forward, there’s a lot of early betting chatter worth noting. The Cardinals are once again in teaser territory, getting bumped up to +8.5. Fezzik also likes the over 47.5 in that game, thanks to the Jacoby Brissette–led offense showing signs of life and the emergence of Trey McBride as a legitimate receiving threat.
The total in the Eagles-Jets matchup sits at 45.5, and both guys are leaning over, expecting the Eagles' offense to light it up. Another best bet emerges in the Cowboys-Eagles game, with a two-unit play on under 49.5. The Cowboys are also getting a little love at +3.5, though it’s more of a lean than a lock.
On the teaser radar, the Falcons are being teased up to +7.5, the Rams teased down to -0.5, and the Niners are a consistent favorite as a teaser leg. Ross is going with four teaser legs at one unit apiece, looking to recreate last week’s magic.
