Braydon Fisher is listed as Toronto's starter, but calling him a starter right now is generous. His last three appearances, on August 9, 11, and 13, totaled 4.0 combined innings pitched: two innings against Philadelphia, then one inning, then one more against Boston. That is reliever usage by any measure. Fisher has 24 days of extended rest since his last true starting effort, and the market is treating that rest as though it translates to six or seven innings of starting work tonight. His recent usage pattern says otherwise. Toronto's bullpen enters this game before the third inning, and that bullpen carries a 3.93 ERA. New York's lineup will face that reality starting early.
The biggest variable heading into Saturday is Vladimir Guerrero Jr., who left Friday's win in the sixth inning after taking a knee to the head during a collision at third base. Toronto manager John Schneider said after the game: "It's an uncomfortable feeling. I'd rather it be a little bit cleaner and not have Vlad take a knee to the head." Guerrero's availability for Saturday is genuinely uncertain. He carries the team's offensive engine, posting a .661 OPS in the last 28 days, and his career matchup against Schlittler is the strongest on the Toronto roster: eight plate appearances, .625 batting average, 1.250 OPS. If he sits, Toronto's ceiling against an elite starter drops sharply.
New York's offensive case is straightforward. Ben Rice leads the club with 32 home runs and a .932 OPS against right-handers. Luis García Jr. posts a .906 OPS against righties with 24 home runs. Rogers Centre carries a 1.08 home run park factor, above the league average. The Yankees are 37-27 on the road this season. Against a Toronto pitching effort that starts thin and gets thinner by the third inning, New York's power-heavy right-handed lineup has the tools to put up a crooked number.
Picks made August 15, 2026 at 05:45 AM ET. Odds shown reflect current market prices.
The best single play is Schlittler over 5.5 strikeouts at -169. The run line at -114 for New York is the second-best play and the one I'd lead with for casual bettors wanting a cleaner approach. The under at -132 is a directional lean, not a conviction play, and should be sized accordingly. The contrarian case for Toronto, a team in a playoff push riding real momentum at home, is worth acknowledging. But this is not the night to fade an ace when the opponent is running a relief corps out of the gate. Please bet responsibly and never wager more than you can afford to lose.
