On the other side, Freddy Peralta is having a 2026 season that reads like the opposite story. His 4.66 ERA and 44 walks in 104.1 innings confirm what his recent outings show: 4.1 innings against Boston with five walks, 4.2 innings against Atlanta, 4.0 innings against Toronto. He has not reached five innings in two of his last three starts. His strikeout totals in those outings were 6, 6, and 4, averaging 5.3 per start. This is not a pitcher grinding through a rough patch. This is a pitcher who cannot command his arsenal and is being removed early because he is struggling, not because he is dominant. The Mets' bullpen is simultaneously missing Holmes, Warren, and Justin Hagenman, which means a short Peralta outing hands the game to a decimated relief corps.
Milwaukee comes in riding genuine momentum. At 62-37, they lead the NL Central and have won three straight, capped by William Contreras drilling a walk-off three-run homer off Pete Fairbanks to sweep the Marlins on Sunday. Contreras carries a 1.084 OPS over the last seven days. Garrett Mitchell shows a 0.962 OPS over the same stretch. The Brewers average 5.1 runs per game with a .733 team OPS. They are a first-place team at home with their best starter on the mound. The Mets arrive having traveled from Philadelphia, where they played yesterday, with Mark Vientos out until late August due to a fractured hand and Luis Robert Jr.'s activation still uncertain after a lumbar spine recovery.
The contrarian case deserves acknowledgment before you commit any money. Misiorowski's only prior start against the Mets came in July 2025 and was a disaster: 3.2 innings, five earned runs. Francisco Lindor hit a home run in that game, posting a 2.500 OPS across two plate appearances. Juan Soto is batting .290 with 21 home runs and a .552 slugging percentage this season. He went 0-for-2 against Misiorowski in that 2025 sample, but small samples cut both ways. Both bullpens are depleted, which means if the Mets crack Misiorowski in the early innings, the game compresses quickly and New York can cover. That 2025 disaster start is a real data point. The answer to it is that Misiorowski's 2026 version is a fundamentally different pitcher with zero walks in his last two starts and a 1.62 ERA across a full half season of work. The 2025 start predates his current form entirely.

The strikeout prop at -149 for Misiorowski Over 8.5 is the primary play. His floor over his last three starts was 8 Ks. The line is asking for his floor. A depleted Milwaukee bullpen means the team needs him deep, which pushes his count higher, not lower. The Mets enter without Vientos, with Robert Jr.'s availability uncertain, and batting .234 as a unit. Stack the run-line with it if you want full exposure to the same outcome, and treat the Under 7.5 as a low-conviction complement riding the same dominant pitching narrative. The one genuine caveat: Lindor hit a home run against Misiorowski in their only prior meeting and Soto remains the kind of hitter who can change a game with one swing regardless of who is pitching. Variance is real. Manage your unit sizes accordingly and do not chase if the first inning goes sideways.
