The Suns are 1-5 and have dropped four straight. At home this season, they are 1-2 with a scoring margin of minus 3.7 per game. That sounds manageable until you see the defensive numbers. Phoenix is posting a 124.5 defensive rating, dead last in the league. This is early-season data and the sample is small, but the pattern has been consistently bad. Their offense actually functions at 114.3 ORTG (12th), so they can score. The issue is they cannot stop anyone, and back-to-back games flatten rotations first. Phoenix shot 31% from three in their last game against Golden State. Tired legs make that number worse, not better.
Orlando is depleted. Banchero is out four to six weeks with a high-ankle sprain. Suggs has a bone bruise and is at least two weeks away. Isaac and Penda are also unavailable. That leaves Franz Wagner as the Magic's entire offensive engine. He posted 24 points on 10-of-18 shooting with 6 assists against Washington two days ago, showing he can carry this group. His 25.6 drives per game and 28.9% usage rate will only increase with the roster stripped down. On the road this season, Orlando is 2-1 with 110.3 PPG away from home. That away form is what matters tonight, not their 0-4 home mark.
The interesting thing about this matchup is what the advanced numbers actually tell you. Phoenix's 124.5 DRTG looks like a neon sign saying Over. But Orlando's 108.0 ORTG ranks 23rd. A leaky defense against a poor offense is not a track meet. Add slow pace from both clubs (Phoenix at 99.5, Orlando at 98.3, both near the bottom nationally) and you have the ingredients for a grinding, low-possession game that stays close through four quarters and could get ugly in crunch time.
Picks made November 05, 2026 at 06:17 AM ET. Odds shown reflect current market prices.
The best angles are the Magic moneyline at +102 and the Under 223.5 at -105. You get better than even money on the rested side of a coin flip, and the Under has tailwinds from pace, injuries, and fatigue pulling in the same direction. For single-game props, Dillon Brooks over 14.5 is the highest-conviction play I see tonight. A 90% L10 hit rate against a 67.1% implied probability is not something you see every night. As always, these are projections and trends, not guarantees. Both rosters are struggling, both defenses are porous, and a sloppy overtime game is entirely possible. Bet responsibly and within your limits.
