The LHP problem for Rogers is specific, not theoretical. Yandy Díaz carries a .600 average and 1.536 OPS against him in 11 career plate appearances across three separate seasons. OPS marks of 2.500, 1.000, and 1.667 in those years rule out small-sample variance. Junior Caminero brings a .429 average and .929 OPS in 8 career plate appearances against Rogers, and his 35 home runs in 2026 make him a power threat even in a suppressed park environment. Rogers' last appearance at Tropicana Field ended at 3.2 innings with 7 earned runs on May 18. The park knows him. The lineup knows him better.
Peralta's path through Sunday runs through context rather than stuff. Tropicana carries a 0.96 runs factor and a 0.90 home run factor, and it plays like a pitcher's park even on nights when the starter is not sharp. His Aug 10 outing against ATH showed signs of a floor: 6.0 innings, 3 earned runs, 5 strikeouts, his most complete start since late July. Baltimore hits .236 with a .717 OPS overall and is a roughly even club against right-handed pitching at 43-42 on the season. Peralta does not need to dominate. He needs five workable innings and some early run support, and this park reduces the margin for error on both sides.
Tampa has dropped both games of this homestand in walk-off fashion, including a 4-3 loss in 10 innings on Aug 15, which makes Sunday's finale the defining bounce-back spot of the week. Their 41-20 home record makes consecutive extra-inning home losses a genuine outlier. Both bullpens are stretched from back-to-back extra-inning duty, putting added weight on starter performance in the early frames. Rogers going deep into this game against this lineup is the biggest structural risk for Baltimore. Tampa needs to capitalize early if they are going to close the homestand with authority.

The honest contrarian case lives in Peralta's 5.33 ERA and the consecutive walk-off losses Tampa just absorbed at home. If he exits before the fifth inning and the Rays bullpen faces a long night, Baltimore at +118 is real value. That scenario is plausible enough to acknowledge. But Peralta's Aug 10 start provided recent evidence of a workable floor, and the matchup evidence against Rogers is too concentrated to ignore. Díaz owns him across three seasons of data. Caminero hits him well. Tampa's lineup is built to hurt left-handed pitching, and Rogers is walking into that building for the second time this year. The Rays ML at -159 and Baltimore +1.5 at -179 are the structural picks. Peralta Under 6.5 strikeouts at -165 is the highest-conviction prop in Sunday's slate. In a series that has already produced two one-run finishes, one swing can change everything. Size to the variance.
