Boston's offense runs through two players doing things that look absurd, even knowing we're working with two-game samples. Paul George is shooting 52.6% from three on 5.5 catch-and-shoot attempts per game, with a 67.1% true shooting mark that is among the most efficient early outputs in the league. Jayson Tatum is averaging 9.0 assists per game alongside 24.5 points, operating as both the primary scorer and the floor general. That combination, George finding open looks off Tatum's gravity, is what makes Boston's offense genuinely difficult to guard in half-court settings. Treat the specific numbers with early-season caution, but the structural picture is real.
Chicago's offense tells a different story. Their offensive rating of 104.9 ranks 28th in the NBA, and the core problem isn't volume. It's efficiency. Caleb Wilson leads the Bulls at 22.3 PPG but carries a 49.7% true shooting mark that gets worse against structured defenses. Norman Powell is at 54.8% TS% on a 34.1% field goal rate. And then there's Josh Giddey, the starting point guard generating 8.3 assists and 6.0 drives per game while converting at a 30.6% true shooting mark. That last number is genuinely hard to overcome. He is touching the ball constantly and converting almost nothing, making him a net-negative offensive possession every time he attacks in a half-court environment.
Chicago also arrives shorthanded. Nic Claxton is out with a hamstring injury, while Patrick Williams and Noa Essengue are both questionable with a groin issue and a head injury respectively. Devin Carter is out for Boston with mononucleosis, but his absence does not reshape the Celtics' rotation the way Chicago's injury concerns do. If Williams and Essengue sit, Boston's defense can load up on Wilson and Giddey while forcing role players to beat them from the perimeter.

The best angles on this game are the player props. Buzelis over 4.5 rebounds and Jones over 8.5 points are the two high-hit-rate plays the market seems to be underweighting, both tied to a blowout script where Chicago role players absorb extra minutes and usage in garbage time. George over 1.5 steals at +100 rounds out the value side. The spread at +13.5 offers thin positive expected value but low conviction given Chicago's injury uncertainty. The Over 232.5 is a model-alignment play, directionally supported, but the pace mismatch gives you plenty of reason to wonder. Boston wins this. Probably going away. The only real question is whether Chicago's rotation is healthy enough to keep it within two possessions for three quarters.
